The Adventure of DecorLays
Long ago, in the heart of Randers' vibrant city life, Dorte and Nicolas' paths crossed for the first time. Their meeting was like a fateful moment, and after a time of anxious waiting, they decided to become lovers.
They moved together in Aalborg, where they created a life full of love and adventure in their small, cozy apartment. The years passed and their family grew with three lovely children. After 12 years, they decided to take the next step and bought a house in Hadsund.
In Hadsund, Nicolas found a new passion. He acquired a 3D printer, fascinated by the endless possibilities it offered. He spent countless hours reading and learning about 3D printing and soon mastered the art of creating beautiful objects. But Nicolas' curiosity did not stop there. He taught himself how to draw in Fusion 360, and with this new skill he was now able to turn his ideas into finished products all by himself.
That's what our adventure might sound like, but it's not an adventure...
Danishly designed and manufactured
Alongside his passion for 3D printing, Nicolas works full-time as an IT project coordinator, while Dorte works as a bioanalyst. We never imagined that the interest in 3D printing could develop into a business, but it quickly became clear that there are many opportunities to create unique designs that are not possible within ceramics and glass.
We have always loved a home with lots of colours, plants and flowers, and this is where the idea to create unique vases arose. It takes many hours to design and test the vases to ensure they are waterproof and of high quality. Now we have created different designs that we are incredibly proud of and we want to share these beautiful vases with you.
Innovative thinking, high quality and beautiful design have the highest priority in our work.
Naming of the company
We wanted a name that clearly signals that our products are about decoration and interiors. At the same time, we wanted the name to reflect that our products are 3D printed, as this is the core of our business. After a long brainstorm, we came up with the name Decorlays – a combination of 'Decor' (decoration) and 'Lays' (printed in layers).
